RunDisney Princess Sunrise Yoga
Dreams really do come true. Several years ago, our friend Stef who is a Cast Member, participated in a Cast-Member-only sunrise yoga in the Magic Kingdom. This truly sounded like my dream, and I told Stef then that I wished Disney would offer that as a guest experience and that I would pay into the triple digits for an experience like that!
This summer, RunDisney announced that my wish was coming true! They would offer Disney Princess Sunrise Yoga as part of the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend. It was going to be offered on my husband and I’s wedding anniversary. I told my husband that if I could get a registration, we were going to Disney World! Spoiler alert: I got one.
This was truly one of the most magical things I have ever done on Disney property (HIGH PRAISE, PEOPLE), and especially for a first time event, I thought RunDisney and the Cast Members working the event did a great job of keeping it pretty seamless! It looks like RunDisney might continue to offer this experience, as there is yoga offered with the Springtime Surprise race weekend, so here are the things you need to know:
DO IT. Honestly, I can’t express the joy this experience bought me. It was so special to feel like we had the park to ourselves and to do yoga with a few hundred other Disney crazies like me.
Dress up! Or Don’t! Personally, I think dressing up is part of the RunDisney fun. I chose an Aurora vibe thanks to this Crowned Athletics cute set! There were people way more in costume than me – complete with light up features on their outfit – and people who came in regular old athleisure. Do whatever will make you feel good!
Set that alarm clock! It wouldn’t be a RunDisney event if you didn’t have to wake up at 2:30 am, right?! RunDisney did offer transportation from Disney Resorts, which of course picked up around 3:30 am.
Buses, Boats and more: the bus took us to the Ticket and Transportation Center – you could have also driven or caught an Uber – and we lined up to check in and board the ferry to the Magic Kingdom! You needed to have an ID and your RunDisney Check In Pass ready! It was all very orderly and moved quickly!
Prepare to walk! Again, in true RunDisney fashion, you’re going to get your steps in before the event begins. I wore sandals thinking they would be easiest to slip off for yoga, but I wished I had put on tennis shoes. After we arrived to the MK, Cast Members divided us into groups and directed us to a pre-set spot for yoga, complete with mat, carrying case and plastic water bottle.
Soak it all in. Especially because this was my first time in front of Cinderella Castle in more than two years, you could say I was ~emotional~. I tried to sit and take in everything around me while thinking the whole time how cool this was!
It’s an experience for all experience levels! The yoga practice was friendly to beginners but enough that I felt like I got a little workout and stretch in before a long Park day.
Take pictures! As soon as yoga ended, I feel like it was a photo fest for everyone! When else can you get a pic in front of the castle with no one else in it?!
Did I mention do it?
